It was a good month, I'd say.  We "camped" in my in-laws' yard and lit a bonfire while we watched fireworks over the lake, but then a huge lightning storm came and scared us out of the tent.  We had some fun trips to Walden Pond, Maine, Rhode Island, Western Massachusetts, New Hampshire, & New York for hiking, beaching, mini-golfing, canoeing and city strolling. Ate some yummy veggies harvested from our garden, created some new recipes, and made a new (up-cycled) dress for kiddo!  I made it from an old shirt of mine that a friend gave me, which she bought used as well.  Now kiddo is enjoying something that was well-used and well-loved beforehand.  I look forward to up-cycling more clothes for her soon~  Making our used clothing last longer is always a great way to save some dough for future exploring trips!  Adventure on dudes!  :)

Summer Fever

Enjoying Summer... Good food, friends, floating in our canoe and camping! (plus river trash clean-up)

For Father's Day, we took kiddo camping for the first time, in New Hampshire's Franconia National Park, and she LOVED it!

We finished Father's Day weekend off with a picnic by Charles River with friends.

Last week, we took a trip out to Harvard, Massachusetts, to Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge where we paddled and removed trash from the river.  We were inspired by this guy: Trash Paddler.  It was rad to share such a beautiful time in a silent, serene place, and to show Harmony a bit of planet-aid in action.  Our family discussions in the canoe are such a special bonding time, and to spend it also greening up the river, was great for teaching her more about our values and our ability to make a difference for the environment.  She was thrilled to see a muskrat, which swam right up to our canoe, checked us out, then swam away.  We also saw flying cranes, fish, and a really pretty species of blue dragonflies we had never encountered before.

We've had some yummy meals from our garden lately, and I had my friend over to pick and eat with us. She made a great salad for us, then showed kiddo some hula-hoop moves!
